Remembering my oldest friend Sally

Created by Rosemary & Tony 7 years ago
I met Sally at school when I was seven, we visited each other's houses for tea, mine was quiet as I was an only child, hers was noisy with a brother, sister, dog & a shop her parents ran. My family were religious hers were not ,despite being opposites we stayed friends, she going to boarding school, me to a grammar school in London.
We met up in the holidays & more often when she went to day school in London.
I got a job in London, she went to Oxford, we still met up in her holidays & she was my bridesmaid when I married Tony in 1970.Andrew came with her & then we went to their wedding. The best thing she did at Oxford was to meet Andrew & they have had a long & happy marriage like us, as well as their children & grandchildren.
We lost touch & we had our children & grandchildren. When we celebrated our Ruby wedding , I wondered where she was & put my name on Friends Reunited, she answered my message & so we got in contact again.
She hadn't lost any of her lovely ways, sense of humour & her friendly manner. We met up for lunch & visited each other until Sally got ill, which curtailed our visits but she & Andrew were able to join us to celebrate Tony's 70 th birthday last year.
We had a lovely day & they were able to meet our family & friends, we have some lovely photos of that day, which are very special to us.
Sally was an exceptional person , bright , witty & never pretentious despite her amazing knowledge, she was a wonderful friend to have & she will be sadly missed by Tony & I.
i hope my grammar is correct!
