A few years ago Sally and Andrew and I were exploring Vancouver Island. We decided to take two small ferries to get to Hornby Island which is just off the East coast. We stopped for lunch and on the table was a little newsletter telling about local events and one of them was about a famous author who was going to do a reading at the local library. Sally said "I know her". It was indeed an old schoolmate of Sally's she hadn't seen for many years. We got the address where she was staying from the restaurant owner and Sally went to the door and knocked. It was indeed her old friend who graciously invited us in to her holiday home and chatted contentedly until we had to leave to get the last ferry of the day back to Vancouver Island. Amazing how many many years and thousands of miles vanished in a moment. A lovely day and a lovely memory. Love Philip
